Objectives

Helping Hands for Japan raises funds for the long term needs of those adversely affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. We work with local organisations in Japan to identify these long term needs and chose suitable projects to sponsor. It is a basic requirement that sponsored projects are locally managed with emphasis on those that actively recruit and make use of volunteers. We are also engaged in educating the general public, and especially school children, about these long term needs and how we can help. Sometimes good will messages can be just as important as financial assistance.

It is a basic principle that 100% of all donations will be passed on to the local organisations managing the projects, and this will be as direct and as quick as is possible in each situation.

Running and staff costs of the charity will only be provided by a small proportion of money taken for providing services at fundraising events.
